Ukraine - Czech Republic - EU: current status and prospects of development
From 28 April to 6 May 2012 graduate students of the Department of Economics and Business Administration Pimonenko Tatyana and Rybina Elena took part in the II-nd round of mobile international scientific-practical conference "Ukraine - Czech Republic - EU: current status and prospects of development", organized by the Kherson National Technical University in conjunction with a branch of the Prague National pedagogical University and the University of Hradec Kralove.
As a part of conference there were trips to Poland, Netherlands and Czech Republic.
The conference discussed the problems of the economy, education and culture in comparative perspective "Ukraine - Czech Republic - EU". The discussion was lively, in the discussion among the participants were offered possible solutions to these problems.
As a result of the discussion participants were awarded by international certificates.

On March 20-22, 2012 the 2nd round of All-Ukrainian student's Olympiad in the specialty «Management of Foreign Economic Activity» (in an educationally-qualifying level master's degree) took place at the Odessa National Economic University.
As a result of the competition day student of the Department of Economics and Business Administration Yevhenya Kovalenko (supervisor - Sabadash V.V., Ph.D., associate professor) won the 4th place at the «Master» level.

International Conference "Economics for Ecology"
April 27, 2012 there was eighteenth tour of International Conference "Economics for Ecology" on the basis of SSU, hhe motto of Conference was: "The future that we want ...".
Talented young people from more than 10 countries came together for sharing their experience and adopting experience of their colleagues. We wish conference participants usefully spend next two days, which will be held in the camp "Rovesnik".
The success of economists at the International Environmental Forum
From 24 to April 26, 2012 International Environmental Forum "Environment for Ukraine" with the support of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was held in Kiev. The organizers of the Forum were: Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ukrainian Center of international exhibitions, conferences and forums, Ukrainian Ecological League. The purpose of the Forum was integration of "green economy" strategy in the socio-political, economic and social components to ensure a balanced development of the state, people of all structures of cooperation in solving environmental problems.
Among the famous people of Ukraine on the forum were:
Eduard Stavitskiy - Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine;
Semynoha Anatoliy - Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee of Environmental Policy, Nature Management and Elimination of Consequences of the Chernobyl disaster;
Anatoliy Tolstouhov - Advisor, the commissioner of the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the coordinator of the Forum;
Timochko Tatiana - Chairman of the Ukrainian Ecological League.
The head of the Department of Economics and Business Administration SSU Leonid Melnik was invited to the Forum. He spoke with the interesting lectures on the following topics: "Regional assessment of environmental losses due to production in Ukraine", "Background effectiveness of educational transformation in the context of sustainable development based on the formation of the" Ecopolis ".
April 25 at the Forum was held Ukrainian competition-protection undergraduate and graduate students projects "Towards Sustainable Development and the" green economy "". Thus, graduate student of Economics and BA Priymenko Svetlana has been invited to the protection of environmental project. She spoke on the topic "Solving problems of the energy sector by stepwise ecologization of energy product’s life-cycle". Svetlana became the second among the thirty invited participants.
Congratulations to the representatives of the Department of Economics and BA with a brilliant victory at such high level.
"If I were an entrepreneur"
April 23, 2012 in the library building SSU was the contest of business ideas on the topic "If I were an entrepreneur." It was attended by students grades 9-11 Sumy, Gluhov, Konotop, Shostka, Ahtirka schools. In the preliminary round were selected the best works of thirty-filed for consideration. The competition was represented by 20 business ideas of 24 contestants. 
These guys really get used to the role of the entrepreneur. Colorful slide show just reinforced the already interesting work. Students’ preparing is commendable, they have actively participated in the discussion of business ideas and asked questions. Winners were decided after the discussion of jury. First place was taken by a group of students of Sumy secondary school ¹ 24: Oksana Opara, Bulatova Alina, Daria Shutko, Dyevyatyerikova Daria with his collective work of art paints factory, "My View". 
Second place was taken by the guys from Gluhov Zhuzhoma’s specialized boarding school Sevryuk Boris and Fesenko, Vladislav with the project of canine school "Academy for the dogs." Third place was a student of the same boarding school Ashcheulov Peter. He presented the project to create a plant for the production of pasta, "Macon".
By the end of the presentation of their work students had the opportunity to listen to a lecture of Melnik L.G. "The fundamental basics of development". The winners were awarded with diplomas and valuable gifts.
We thank all the guys for taking part in the competition and we wish this talented young people success in their endeavors in the field of economy and the further implementation of business ideas!
Olympics has named the best economists of Environmental Economics
From 19 to 21 April 2012 at SSU was the second stage of Ukrainian Student Olympiad on discipline "Environmental Economics" among university students of economic and technical Ukrainian university.

April 20 at 9:30 am in the auditorium C 219 there was opening ceremony of the Ukrainian Olympiad. Deputy Chairman of the jury Ph.D., Professor Nicolay Shapochka welcomed all present students and teachers, announced the squad of the jury and offered to choose one of ten prepared variant of Olympiad tasks. The maximum number of points that could get members - 100 points: 60 points for the theoretical issues (computer test) and 40 points for solving tasks.
Thus, from 10.00 to 12.00 members were solving practical tasks. From 13.30 to 15.30 participants were asked to theoretical test (computer testing).
At 16.00 by SSU’s bus students invited to tour of Sumy, and jury and professors from other universities began to examine the contest task. Approximately 17.00 the jury began to sum up first, and at 17.30 began to celebrate award winners and most active participants of the Olympiad. The jury could award the prize places seven participants (20% of students who come to the Olympiad). They are:

2nd place - Shevchuk Yuriy, Kremenchug M.Ostrogradskii National University (75 points)

Student of "Economy of enterprise" - silver medalist of Ukrainian contest!
April 4-5 at the Kremenchug National University M. Ostrogradskiy held economic theory contest (micro-, macroeconomics and political economy). In the contest participated 74 participants from 36 Ukrainian universities. Sumy was represented by student of " Economy of enterprise " Department of Economics and Business Administration SSU Iskakov Andrey (gr. E-01); he took second place, that was the "silver" medal contest!
We wish Andrey further fruitful scientific work and new achievements!
The competition of beauty and grace in the SSU!
On April 19, 2012 annual beauty contest "Miss SSU 2012" is held in the Assembly Hall of Sumy State University. This year for the title of the most beautiful student will compete eight members-representatives of all departments of the university and medical school SSU. This year representative from FEM is a third year student of Economics and Business Administration specialty economics of enterprise Suhina Anastasia.
It has long been at SSU "walks" saying that the best girls are studying at the economy. We hope, this statement is confirmed in the coming days.

Achievements of young talent!
April 3 there was Stage I of the international scientific conference "Economic problems of sustainable development" at the Department of Economics and Business Administration, devoted to 20th anniversary of FEM scientific activity, for faculty, staff, graduate students in the fields: business economics, business administration and economics of natural resources and protecting the environment..
This year was filed more than 100 abstracts. About 50 students gathered to discuss pressing economic problems and find creative and unusual ways to solve them.
All reports were interesting and accompanied by a prepared presentation. In lively discussions were the most active and erudite of them and received prizes in sections:
I. "Economy of nature resources and environment":
1st place - Pronikova Z.;
2nd place - Shashko M. and Zyabina E.;
3rd place - Gaydash A., Skotnikov V., Katrushenko I.
II. "Economy of enterprise":

Attention to students of high schools and gymnasiums! The deadline for all contest essays in a competition of business ideas "If I were an entrepreneur ..." is extended!
The competition is carried out among students of high schools and gymnasiums through a description of the business idea in the form of an essay (3-5 pages).
The business idea can be developed on the example of any goods, works and services at a village, city, region, country and the world, which will allow finding the solution of any problems from everyday problems to the implementation of the most daring desires!
The winners will be awarded with diplomas and receive financial reward!
The deadline for all contest essays submission is April 10, 2012.
Essays may be written in the co-authoring of several students (up to three students).

On March 20-22, 2012 the 2nd round of All-Ukrainian student's Olympiad in the specialty «Management of Foreign Economic Activity» (in an educationally-qualifying level master's degree) took place at the Odessa National Economic University.
Olympiad was conducted in two stages: 1) testing; 2) solution of situational problems (on the basis of real company). The competitive tasks combined such disciplines: strategic management, management of foreign economic activity, investment management, international payments and currency transactions, methodology of scientific researches.
Yevhenya Kovalenko – master student, Department of Economics and Business Administration, won in the nomination «Manager of Changes».
Yevhenya's scientific supervisors were Sabadash V.V., Ph.D., associate professor, and Derevyanko Yu.N., Ph.D., associate professor, Department of Economics and Business Administration.

Again, the Olympus of fame
Liudmila Kulik and Dolgodush Anastasia - masters student, Department of Economics and Business Administration, won two second places in the Ukrainian competition of student’s scientific works in the specialty "Economics of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection."
This year competition was held in M. Ostrogradskiy Kremenchug National University on March 23. Anastasia's scientific supervisors were Chigrin E.Y., Ph.D., associate professor, and Matsenko A.M., Ph.D., Department of Economics and BA, Lyudmila's - Sotnik I.N., Ph.D., associate professor, and Kovalenko E.V., assistant professor of Economics and BA.

Winning Economists in basketball!
February 28, in the gym ET building was match between the basketball team of the Faculty of Economics and Management and the Medical Institute. In the fierce struggle won FEM with 20 points margin and with the score 44:24. FEM took third place for the result of basketball games. In FEM team played Alexander Hrabin student in "Economy" (group E-81), which actively participates in the sport life of the faculty.
Students FEM come support their teachers: Matsenko A.M. (Department of Economics and Business Administration), Kotenko A.M. Humenniy M.V. (Department of Management). Even Professor Leonid G. Melnik came to root his students, who has considerable basketball experience. His tips are useful for players FEM. We wish all athletes of the Faculty of future victories!
Department of Economics and Business Administration has released yet another change of graduates
This year, the department of Economics and Business Administration issued more than one hundred graduates: three groups of specialists and a master's specialty "Economics of enterprise".
This year there were excellent. 7 students got diploma with honors: 6 masters and 1 specialists.

Education and probation programs for students and teachers
Faculty of Economics and Management in conjunction with the Department of International Cooperation announced a set of courses for students of 4-5 courses, as well as graduate students and faculty for probation at leading universities and research institutions abroad at government expense.
The purpose of education and probation is to increase the level of theoretical and practical training of students, scientific and pedagogical workers, conducting original research using modern equipment and technologies, mastering the latest unique methods to gain experience of research and teaching activities, providing information exchange and expansion of scientific communication.
Education and probation are entitled to be sent persons of high achievement in academic, scientific achievements, carried out on a high scientific level of the fundamental and (or) applied research.
Basic requirements:
- major (the direction of preparation) and subjects of research must comply with the list of priority areas of education;
- possession of a high level of English or the language of the country, which is supposed to receive education.

Alina Lavrinenko - fourth-year student of Economics and Business Administration Faculty of Economics and Management of SSU. This girl is not only good grades in studing, as evidenced by their test book, which also "A" has no place in any other estimates, winner of the Ukrainian student Olympiad in economics of the enterprise in the spring of 2011 (Zhytomyr), has the title " The best student of SSU 2009-2010 ". Despite his scientific achievements, Alina can spend their free time actively! It is organized in preparation for university freshmen competition-review "Gold integral", test yourself in various trainings and seminars, are ex-studdean of FEM, is a member of the organizing committee of the annual International Scientific Conference «Economy for Ecology» since 2009.
With this kind of talent to combine excellent teaching with an active social activities in September 2011 Alina has been recognized SSU student as such, is worthy of the title of President of Ukraine Scholarship. It is known that such grants are not scattered, and appointed officially by the students, which won nationwide contests, have high performance in teaching and leading an active student life. It would seem that big deal to the requirements of scholarship, and they are appointed not often!

The ski competition among faculties of SSU
On the 27 of January, 2012 the ski competition among faculties of SSU took place. The Faculty of Economics and Management was represented by teachers of the Department of Economics and BA: Matsenko A. M., Gorobchenko D. V., Nestorenko T., Tereshchenko I., and of the Department of Economical Theory - Klimenko O., Dudkin A.
Matsenko A. M. (Department of Economics and BA) took the second place among men, Gorobchenko D. V. (Department of Economics and BA) took the 5th place overall. Thus, the victory of our participants brought us the 3-rd place among other faculties. Women showed good result too. It should be mentioned that our team didn`t have masters of sport unlike others.
Active support of group ED-71 (Environmental Economics and Nature Resources Management, Department of Economics and BA) helped our participants greatly and ensured our victory.
Participation in the Inter-University Student Diplomas’ Content in the Field of Business Economics
The Inter-university student diplomas’ content in the field of Business Economics took place at Donetsk business and trade national university named after M. Tugan Baranovskyj on 17-18 November 2011. 64 universities that represented 30 towns had participated in it. The diploma papers for masters’ and specialist’s degrees which have been presented by the department of Economics and Business Administration at the content had won the prizes among 199 graduate theses presented there.
The third place scored in 55,33 points went to I. Tereschenko for her master theses “The Analysis of the Fixed Assets Turnover and Their Improvement Guidelines” (supervisor – candidate of economic sciences, docent S. Shevtsova). The award for the creative informative approach to solving economic problems went to E. Karpenko (supervisor – candidate of economic sciences, docent E. Shkarupa). The third place scored in 56,33 points went to Yu. Kozlova for her specialist theses “The Analysis of the Firms’ Competitive Edge within Marketing Strategy” (supervisor – candidate of economic sciences, docent I. Degtyaryova). Among the diploma papers with the highest effects from project recommendations there was selected a graduate thesis of E. Loos (supervisor – candidate of economic sciences, docent V. Kasyanenko). The award for the application of creative research techniques went to K. Tarasova (supervisor – candidate of economic sciences, docent E. Shkarupa).

Students’ Traditions at the Economics Department
Traditionally, an every year Celebration of joining to the students’ society at the Economics Department was held in “Solnechnaya Polyana”. The main organizer of the party was the third-year student Evgenija Zyabina who took part in the first Celebration three years ago. More than 55 students participated in it. At first, the first-year students did the tasks and guessed the puzzles in the festival foot quest and then got the valuable gifts as a cup, book and the oath, which are inevitable part of the Celebration. After that there gathered the representatives of the first, second, third and fourth course, graduates, post-graduates, teachers and the guests at the holiday table. The atmosphere was cosy and festival there. Apart from compatriots, the celebration was shared among the representatives from such friendly countries as Russia, Moldova and Azerbaijan. Cheerful invitation was pronounced by ex-captain “Tike-Tiho” Alexander Bondarenko, after which the first-year students had joined to the students’ society. The holiday was followed by disco-party.

Participation in an International Conference
The Second International Conference “Technology of Information Systems Development” took place at Taganrog Institute of Technology, Southern Federal University, in Gelendzhuk, Russian Federation, on 19 September 2011. There was a representative from Sumy State University Dr., Prof. L. Melnyk, a head of Economics Department at SSU. He contributed to the Conference with his report “The Principles of Information Ecology on the Way to Information Society”. His report centered on the idea of building information and dialectic outlook which was of crucial importance for targeted management of social and economic processes on the way to information society. Apart from outlook considerations, he also formulated ten principles of transformation of social and economic systems which should be taken into account while moving towards information society. The report was found rather interesting and followed with extended discussion.
Glorious traditions of "Business Economics" of Sumy State University
The 8th of April, the Economics department of the Sumy State University (SSU) initiated the new tradition - the celebration of the Day of the speciality of "Business Economics". The main part of the celebration took place in the dining room of the university. More than a hundred people gathered to congratulate the favorite speciality. Leonid Melnyk, the Head of the Economics department, took the speech and the holiday began. The Professor cut the red tape as a sign of starting new traditions. Event organizers have done everything possible to make the atmosphere was warm and cozy.

Defence of a Thesis for Doctor's Degree

The presentation of the textbooks “Sustainable Development: Theory, Methodology, Practice” and “Business Administration: master’s course”, that were prepared at the department, will take place in Sumy press-club at 12 o’clock on the 28th of January.
Publication of The International Textbook

The International Textbook
Authors are invited to participate in the design of the International Textbook “Sustainable Development: Theory, Methodology, Practice”. The textbook is being developed due to initiative of scientists from the Sumy State University and Belarus State Economic University as Ukraine-Belarus project, conducted under the auspices of the Funds for Fundamental Studies of Ukraine and Belarus. It is intended to systematize the contents as well as educational dimensions of the sustainable development.
